OEFFA Heart of Ohio Chapter Meeting: Growing Tips
Alexandria, OH
Monday, January 16, 2017
7-9 p.m.
Joseph Swain of Swainway Urban Farm believes in promoting health through eating densely nutritious produce, paying fair wages while running a profitable business, and farming by hand to maximize yield while minimizing petroleum resource use.
As leaders of the urban farm scene in central Ohio, they started the Columbus Agrarian Society, a resource center to support other for-profit farm ventures, backyard gardeners and community projects.
Swainway Urban Farm serves farmers' markets, restaurants and retail outlets in the Columbus area with fresh organic microgreens, mushrooms, specialty vegetables, and seedlings. Joseph will share his growing tips.
This presentation and discussion is part of the Hearth of Ohio Chapter's 2016-2017 event series, "Sustainable living and farming/gardening in a changing climate." Each meeting's discussion will provide information for urban and rural farmers and gardeners. All meetings begin with a short business meeting, which usually includes information concerning farm policy.
