Personal Food Security Workshop

Join Central State University Cooperative Extension's urban agriculture program, the Foodbank of Dayton, and Edgemont Community Center, as they present a practical, educational workshop on building personal food security and a resilient community food system.

The workshop will feature:
- CSU's Dr. Mary Kershaw will present home-tested strategies for nutritional meal planning, food preservation, and use.
- Edgemont staff Ray Alexander and Robert Harmon will define the term "food desert" and explore viable models for organizing urban communities.
- The Foodbank's garden manager, James Hoffer, will discuss options and support available for urban gardeners.
- Greene/Montgomery County CSU Extension Agent Kevin McGhee will be on site to describe their programs and Extension outreach, and to answer questions.

As an added bonus, at 11:30 a.m., there will be a free tour of the Foodbank gardens, conveniently located right across the street!

Tour Cost: Free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required.

Workshop Cost: $15. Price includes light refreshments.
