Fruit Tree Workshop for Home and Community Gardeners
Hayfields Orchard will host two workshops on how to successfully grow fruits in our region and grafting fruit trees. With Hayfields Orchard's diverse selection of fruit tree varieties, grown on a variety of rootstocks, it is an ideal location for the workshop.
The workshops are co-sponsored by the Cincinnati Area Organic Fruit Growers and Turner Farm Community Garden Program. The workshops will be taught by David K Koester, UK Extension Boone County Agent and Hayfield orchardist Marsha Lindner, with the assistance of Peter Huttinger, Turner Farm Community Garden Program.
Today's workshop:
A hands-on workshop in grafting fruit trees - participants will receive instruction in the different techniques of grafting fruit trees. Rootstock, scionwood as well as tools will be provided for participants to graft their own fruit trees. Participants will leave with several newly grafted fruit trees to plant at home or in community gardens.
Fee: $20.
Proceeds from the workshop will benefit the East Price Hill Community Garden and Refugee Garden Programing.
