Planning to Transfer the Farm Workshop Series

Virtual

Friday, October 30, 2020
9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Whether you intend to transfer within your family or to an unrelated farmer, succession planning is real work. This three-part online workshop held Fridays October 30, November 20, and December 11 from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm EST will help you assess your situation, consider options, make decisions, and develop a plan for transferring your land and/or farm business to a new farm owner.

Led by OEFFA Begin Farming Program Coordinator Rachel Tayse and Farmland Specialist Kelly Henderson-Cabral, and under the experienced guidance of professionals from Land For Good, you will spend the first session learning how farm transfer works, assessing your current situation, and setting goals. You will leave with specific homework tasks, such as holding family meetings and talking to advisors, to help develop your plan.

During the second and third workshops, you will explore your options, hear from a legal professional, and clarify steps to succession with OEFFA staff support. You will finish the intensive workshop series with solid action steps in place.

Event Location
This event will be held via Zoom webinar software. It will work best for those who can join by computer. Once you register, we will send you a link for joining the webinar.

The online format will be easy to navigate. You will have opportunities to talk with and learn from other farmers in the workshop. You will receive information, paper worksheets, and reading material in the mail before the first workshop.

Event Details
Registration is limited to just nine farm families to encourage conversation and allow for individualized attention and support during this journey.

Cost: Registration is $300 for OEFFA members and $350 for non-members for up to two members of the senior generation on the same farm. Use discount code MEMBERSSAVE2020 for your member discount.

If you hire legal, financial, or other advisors to help with your plan within six months of the workshops, you will receive a $200 rebate toward those costs.
